US to continue supporting Pak S&T sector, says official
The United States is contributing funds to support projects so as to improve the ability of science and technology community to positively contribute to social and economic expansion of Pakistan.
This was stated by US Assistant Secretary of State Dr Kerri Ann Jones, while briefing media men here on Wednesday after holding a dialogue on science and technology with Federal Secretary for Science and Technology K B Rind.
Dr Kerri said that the United States Agency for International Development (USAid) in collaboration with the Ministry of Science and Technology and the Higher Education Commission would keep at the bottom of the joint Pak-US Science and Technology Cooperative Programme.
This programme, being implemented by the US National Academy of Sciences would strengthen cooperation and links between scientists and institutions of Pakistan and the US, she said. She further said that Pak-US research collaboration has helped improve standard of living of villagers in remote areas by using renewable energy.
